After completing an apprenticeship with Shell as an Instrument Technician, Ray Procter graduated from Heriot Watt University with a BEng degree in Offshore (Electrical and Electronic) Engineering. Ray worked as a drilling engineer initially for Conoco, then for Shell before forming a company that grew internationally under Ray’s leadership. In 1999 Ray created an engineering training programme for KCA Deutag, and then expanded this over the following 10 years to include many of the small to Medium Operators in the programme. In 2010 the company was moved to its current location to allow students from all over the world to easily and cheaply attend Technical Training and Exam Sessions… In April 2016 Ray formed Ray Procter Group to focus on Competency Training.
He has been involved with complex well engineering incidents and many failure investigations as well as training since 1990, has authored a number of papers, publications used as training material and standards. Ray is currently director of the Well Engineering Competency Programme for Drilling, Completions and Well Intervention Engineers.
